Meet Your Area Director - Eric Johnson

It is a priviledge to serve the students and families of the Chippewa Valley through Young Life.  I remember the day 21 years ago when God put it on my heart to bring Young Life to the Chippewa Valley.  I understood the impact Young Life could have on a high school student, as I was one of those students who attended Young Life when in high school in the early 80s.

When God planted the idea to starting Young Life here, I did not know anyone living here who was familiar with Young Life.  Little did I know God had already been planting the same dream in others I was yet to meet.  It was a matter of weeks, that this initial group camp together to do the work of starting this ministry in Eau Claire.

Now here we sit with thousands having been impacted and involved through the years.  It was in October 2011 that God began to call me ot return to Chippewa Valley as Area Director for Young Life.

I am humbled by what has been accomplished here through this ministry and all those who have worked so hard answering that call of God.  Now we look forward to even more students whose lives are about to intersect with their Creator and greatest fan, Jesus Christ.

It was 11 years ago that wife and I left the area to serve kids elsewhere.  We had an amazing 12 years of working with kids in the Chippewa Valley before that transition.  Sarah and I met while both working with Young Life.  Sarah was on Young Life staff in Michigan, where she led the team to begin a club in Zealand, MI.

A big change for us in this chapter of out lives back in the area is that our family has added 2 amazing children.  We adopted our son Jace (5) from South Korea.  Then almost three years ago our daughter Allison was born.  One of our greatest joys is that they will to able to grow up in the Young Life mission community here in the Chippewa Valley.

I am delighted to be serving God here and look forward to making many more friendships as new people join in the call to serve God and students in the Chippewa Valley.
